PEER SUPPORT AT TRIQUESTRIAN

What is Peer Support?
Peer support grows from the civil rights, disability justice, and harm reduction movements. It is holistic, non-clinical, and rooted in relationships. At Triquestrian, peer support specialists are state-certified and bring lived experience with mental health and/or substance use. We accept referrals from Dane County CCS, as well as private insurance and self-pay.

We believe in “nothing about us without us.” This means you have voice and choice in shaping your own support. Peer support is not about fixing; it’s about being human together—through conversation, reflection, and shared vulnerability.

Because “safety” means different things to different people, trust is built slowly. Both people bring curiosity—and a bit of courage—to the process. Connection can feel risky, but we meet you exactly where you are.

What to Expect
After our administration team receives your referral, a peer support specialist will reach out to introduce themselves and explain what peer support looks like. You’ll have time to ask questions and decide when and where to meet.

Meetings are typically weekly for about an hour. Locations are flexible: a library, café, park, public space, your home (if mutually agreed), or our westside office. Sessions can also take place via telehealth.

Attendance
Peer support works best when both people commit to showing up for this connection. Please consider whether this is the right time to make a weekly commitment. Attendance guidelines will be explained when you begin. Conversation is always our starting place.

Availability and Crisis Support
Peer supporters value both their work and personal time. Peer support is not an emergency or on-call service, but we can help you identify crisis and follow-up resources that best fit your needs.

Peer support is about connection—built on earned trust, curiosity, and collaboration.
